Get paid to be the face of puppy events.

Kitten Paws and Downward Dogs runs rescue puppy and kitten events — cuddle lounges, puppy yoga, and corporate wellness experiences — that raise money for animal rescues and help pets find homes. We're building a roster of Brand Ambassadors to welcome guests, set the room, and share the mission at events in their city.

Why this gig

Some jobs hand you a headset. This one hands you a room full of adoptable rescue puppies and a crowd that's thrilled to be there.

As a Brand Ambassador, you're the first face guests see — the warm welcome at check-in, the person who sets the mats with room for puppies to run, the one who tells the story when someone asks "wait, are these puppies up for adoption?" (They are. That's the whole point.)

We're a 501(c)(3) that has raised $130K+ for animal rescues across 100+ events, and we only ever work with rescues — never breeders. Every event you work sends money to that day's rescue partner and puts adoptable animals in front of people ready to fall in love.

WHAT YOU'D BE DOING

A typical event runs two to three hours, and you're the operational heartbeat of it:

  • Greet and check in guests — warm welcome, collect signed waivers.

  • Set up and tear down — mats in even rows with space between them (that's where the puppies weave through), signage where it reads well in photos.

  • Tell the story — share our mission using talking points we give you, in your own voice.

  • Hand out materials — flyers and booking cards from your media packet.

  • Capture the moment — photos and short vertical videos for our social channels.

  • Report back — a five-minute recap within 24 hours: turnout, highlights, content, anyone who asked about booking or adopting.

One thing you'll never do: handle the animals. The rescue's trained handlers care for every puppy and kitten — welfare first, always.

WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR

We'd love to hear from you if you are:

  • Outgoing and warm — comfortable striking up conversation with strangers and speaking from a script without sounding like one.

  • Reliable — on time, every time, with your own transport to local events.

  • A natural with a phone camera — you know what makes a good Reel.

  • An animal lover who's genuinely behind rescue and adoption over breeding.

  • 18 or older and able to pass a background check.

Bonus points for: event, hospitality, or promo experience; an active Instagram; weekend availability.

WHAT YOU GET

  • $40/hour, paid per event within three business days.

  • First-call priority — when we book an event in your metro, you're the first call we make.

  • A welcome box — two branded shirts, an insulated water bottle in our colors, and a media packet, shipped to your door.

  • Flexible, as-needed gigs — no minimums, no set schedule. Take the events that fit your life.

  • A mission you can feel — every shift you work helps a rescue fundraise and helps animals get adopted.

  • Puppies. Obviously.

This is a 1099 independent-contractor role. Hours are never guaranteed — but active ambassadors are first in line for every event in their area.

HOW IT WORKS

  • Apply below. Five minutes, tops.

  • Quick intro call. We'll walk through how events run, pay, and your city.

  • Paperwork, all online. Contractor agreement, W-9, and background check — each arrives by email, nothing to print.

  • A short training + quiz. The event playbook, the do's and don'ts, and the two rules we never bend (animal welfare and honest numbers).

  • Your box ships. Shirts, bottle, media packet.

  • First event, side by side. You'll work your first event paired with us — then you're on the first-call list for your city.

FAQ

Is this a real job? It's real, paid gig work — $40/hour as a 1099 independent contractor, paid per event. It's not full-time and hours aren't guaranteed; most ambassadors work a few events a month as our calendar in their city fills.

Do I handle the puppies? No — and that's a feature, not a bug. Every animal is cared for by the rescue's trained handlers. You'll be around puppies all shift; their welfare team does the hands-on care.

What do I wear? Your branded shirt from the welcome box, closed-toe shoes, and clean business-casual bottoms you can kneel in. We'll cover the details in training.

Why a background check? You'll be checking in members of the public and representing a nonprofit that works with rescues and venues. It's quick, it's online, and we cover the cost.

When do I get paid? Within three business days of each event, after your quick recap report. Pay is by the hour for time actually worked, setup through teardown.

I'm not in one of your cities yet — should I still apply? Yes. We're expanding city by city, and our roster is how we decide where to go next. When we book your metro, you're the first call.

Are the animals okay at these events? It's the thing we care about most. We work exclusively with vetted rescues — never breeders — every animal is vaccinated, handlers give them breaks, and we never push an animal that isn't comfortable.
